Serena Eastman

Masacote Coach

Specialties: salsa, mambo on2, cha cha, ladies styling, bachata, argentine tango.

Serena danced with Masacote Entertainment’s first-ever semi-pro team in 2006 and quickly became a principal dancer and instructor. She taught and performed nationally and internationally with Masacote until 2011, including the inaugural Masacote Retreat. She danced with Latin Vintage Dance Company, directed by Julissa Cruz, in Washington DC from 2016-2019, and 2020-2021. She developed the salsa program at the Waldorf School in Lexington.

She has a BA in Neuroscience and Studio Art from Wellesley College and a MA in Bilingual and Multicultural Education from the University of Alcala, Henares, Madrid, Spain, where she studied the integration of neuroscience into evidence-based learning strategies. She also teaches writing workshops using the Gateless Method that are designed to spark your creative genius, counter the critic and get past creative blocks.

Serena began her studies in movement and music at age 5, when she started playing the violin and learning Eurythmy, a poetics-based movement discipline. She began salsa dancing at age 14 and was instantly hooked, taking all the classes she could find. Though salsa has always been her first love, she cross-trained in argentine tango, bachata, ballet, contemporary, capoeira and African dance and played jazz violin in bands throughout high school and college.

When not dancing in Boston or around the world, you will find Serena on her bike, stringing up her hammock in an exotic location. She has biked over 6,500 miles on self-supported bike tours in 20 countries and 33 states, which all started on a spontaneous bike trip from Canada to Boston.

She is so excited to return home to Masacote. In each class she connects to the fun and joy of dance and brings out the strengths of each unique dancer.
